55 Cafe Penang ( Now changed to Coffee On the Table )

55 Cafe & Restaurant is a nice and cozy place to hang out. They serve delicious Mediterranean dishes and aromatic blends of coffee; The menu has expanded significantly and included affordable tapas sets, main courses and yummy quality desserts.

But today, they've moved to a new place called Coffee On The Table Penang
.

Haven't been to the new place yet but I was quite disappointed in their change of venue. Hopefully the new place maintains what they used to serve in 55 Cafe. Truly a fan of their food and coffee and I've heard awesome reviews from the new place. Hope to try 'em out soon tho :D

But first, why did I chose to still blog about 55 Cafe anyway? 

I was strolling through my laptop and found out their awesome Seafood Lover Tapas Set that I had months back and couldn't wait to share it with you guys!

The only place I find has the best 3D coffee art in Penang. How cute is that!

Seafood Lover Tapas Set (RM89.00++)

Gambas Aljillo
Spanish prawn dish featuring large juicy prawns sauteed in vrigin olive oil, parsley, garlic and dried red chillies.
Quite an appropriate amount and you can fell the freshness of the dish with all the rich herbs. *Super thumbs up!*

Vongole in White Wine Sauce
Fresh juicy clams which surprisingly tasted real great with white wine sauce.

My favorite dish from the set:
Grilled scallops with marinated Angel Hair.
Grilled scallops to a perfection with a touch of Asian fusion;
Angel Hair pasta marinated with sesame oil and soy sauce.
Literally wanted more of this dish. It's like an explosion of flavors in my mouth!

Grilled Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce and Leek Fondue.
To be honest it came with such a generous portion and having this as my last dish, I was surprised, expecting something dessert-sized ish.
But truth be told, best Leek Fondue I've tasted. Certainly compliments the french baguette and seafood perfectly!

I do hope to visit Coffee On the Table soon!

I believe their quality will be as good as 55 Cafe and my expectations (I hope) aren't going to get any lower than this!

Brown Pocket @ Gurney Paragon Mall Penang

Another late post!

Brown Pocket, a (not so) newly opened dessert cafe,I must say it is quite a tip top "nicey" place to have your coffee and desserts. It's located at Level 6 of the mall, just right in front of Celebrity Fitness and facing a ridiculously awesome view from the inside of the cafe. 

They have this super bright and airy environment which makes it so damn comfy and fresh to just chill and hang out, probably because of their glass walls. Note the ladder-book shelf tho *nice*

I don't usually take photos of menus though. I try to remember them by heart so please, bare with me as I've been quite rusty blogging and do give my budding blog a chance :D

It's not rare or weird to have self service cafes in Penang these days. I think it makes lazy customers not-so-lazy and having a more... active environment. haha!

Like most cafes do, they have this self service drinking water thingy. With a slight twist, round-bottomed wine glasses!
*Yes, we all tried pouring water and spinning the cups like a 3 year old lol*

Moving on to the ze FOODz and COFFEEz!

Signature dessert: Triple Chocolate RM18.90
Premium ice cream, strawberry and oreo, served with 3 types of chocolate!
For me, the three types of chocolate syrups was splendid but the waffles seems to be a lil' .. crispy?
Not sure bought the rest though but I like my waffles Crusty on the outside and Spongy on the inside :)

Summer Matcha RM15.80
It's literally Ice Kacang, but with mangoes, blackberries, chocolate chips and matcha ice cream with a matcha syrup.
Not really to my likings but acceptable on a super duper hot weather.

Oreo Smoothie RM13.90
tbh, THIS WAS SOOOO GOOD *super thumbs up*
I like drinks with crunchy chocolatey chipsy ish stuff to bite :D

Good'old Macchiato RM8.90
Cappuccino RM9.90

Hello guys and gals.

I would like to dedicate my first post talking about a sweet little cafe I went months back with my two dearly buddies, the LaiChee brothers *inside joke*

For PenangLangs, if you've heard of the Moustache Cafe, well its suited just right beside the Moustache House!

Their cafe has interesting themes and decorations. Selling from starfishes to travelling items!
Blamed the awful hot weather that day cause it ruined our moods to explore deeper into the shop :/

       

Cappuccino RM7.90
Has no idea what the mini cupcake mould was for but I told them it is to put the cappuccino foam LOL
Might be presentation purpose though

Hangover Waffle RM15++ ish (forgotten the price)
Waffles served with ice cream and rum

Overall, the cafe ain't that bad but tbh their food was quite pricey.
But anyways, it is always nice to tryout new places especially our growing Heritage Penang Island which I bet will be having more cafes to come :)

The so overrated "BO JIO" - which simply means 'Y u no invite me' in Penang-Hokkien

Looking forward to more hangouts with these two
